Cats against Milk, Wolves against Meat

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:35 am by blueliberty

People against options.

I guess I don’t understand something. Normally, I would expect an average person to welcome different options in all aspects of life. Conservatives have been indoctrinated that capitalism and free market is good that’s why I’m puzzled how can they be against people having options. Isn’t that the essence of free-markets? What’s the deal with vehement opposition to public option? All it’s going to do is make the private insurance companies compete harder, like cutting costs and providing better services. All I hear right now from the Right are the whines that it’s not fair. Come on, guys, this is just a taste of your own medicine – you’re supposed to love competition. This is just another competitor coming in to play the game with you. And why should I care that some of the insurance companies might go out of business if the end result will be a better health care for me?

This childlike behavior is becoming boring. They are working tirelessly against their own interest just to prove a point to us, liberals. Like a child threatening to hold his breath until his mother takes him to Disneyland. Most of those teabaggers will never even come close to paying the tax rates that they are opposing. Most of them are quite old, considering the pictures from the protests, meaning they collect Medicare and Social Security. I don’t really see any reason for them to protest, because most of them seem like candidates to benefit from government intervention. They really look like a bunch of cats going on the strike to protest milk to prove a point, trying to outshout each other who hates milk the most. All because they don’t like the guy who distributes the milk. Or because they are concerned for some fat cat, who might pay for the milk and who doesn’t give a flying fuck about them. Because, you know, one day they plan to become that fat cat. Think about the magnitude of brainwashing required to accomplish that! Taking to the streets out of concern for the fat cat who couldn’t care less about them.

And for conservatives this hatred of options extends almost everywhere. Especially in social issues. No, we don’t want options! You take them and shove it! “We don’t want government to do anything for us!” The last one is the actual quote from the tea party protester. How about you take the dirt road, instead of a highway, back to your shack in the woods and next time you have an emergency you heal thyself with herbs and booze. But don’t show up to the emergency room, because it’s going to cost the taxpayers. And you care about taxpayers, remember? You don’t want them to pay for your misfortunes.  Just a thought.

Liberals and Political Correctness

Posted in Uncategorized tagged at 7:29 pm by blueliberty

I think the Left should stop being PC. I think we should call things their names. Being easily offended has turned into a business for some these days. We live in an era of fake outrages, political or otherwise. Besides, banning certain words from circulation creates the opposite effect – they gain greater value, albeit in private conversations. Which makes us pretend that we’re PC in public and enjoy dirty jokes in the company of friends. If that’s the goal of political correctness then I say the mission was accomplished. Even in un-PC places like trading floor, where you hear all kinds of fancy variations of ‘Fuck’ and ‘Shit’, you won’t hear ‘Nigger’ and ‘Cunt’(my favorite word). Once I said it, to appropriately describe that crazy woman who crashed her van at the Taconic with 5 kids, while being stoned and drunk and going full speed at the wrong direction. I mean what other words would you use to describe her? My co-workers first froze for a few moments in silence and then giggled a little with some noticeable discomfort. And my boss is hardly PC. Then I made countless Jewish jokes, but those were much more easily tolerated. Let me digress to say a few words about Hebrews. If only everyone had mental health and self-irony of an average Jew, there would be no need for PC. Most Jews can appreciate a joke at Jewish expense and I suspect they even write and distribute it themselves. Majority of Jewish jokes that I receive are sent to me by my Jewish friends. Here’s one for your amusement: Q. How was copper wire invented?
A. Once, two Jews grabbed the same penny…

Let’s talk about blacks.

Consider this picture for example.

image001

It clearly makes fun of black people’s love of fried chicken. I think it’s pretty funny. The same way jokes about the French and their wine/baguettes and Russians and their vodka. Which brings me to jokes about Obama. So far most Obama jokes were along the lines of him being a “nigger” and Michelle looking like a “gorilla”.

obamalipplate

To me they have about the same “funny” value as, say, Hillary having fat ankles, with the added effect of making the rightwinger using those terms look like the mean-spirited caveman that he is. I mean, come on, guys, you have to make fun of stereotypical behavior of the specific group. For example, I think it was on Bill Maher, he said that during the meeting between Obama and Queen Elizabeth she kept clutching her purse. That’s funny, because it uses a common stereotype! Come on, conservatives, I know you have a pedestrian sense of humor, but you can do better than that. Just make sure that your jokes make fun of what a black guy does, rather than just the fact that he is a nigger. I hope you got it.

Here’s a clip from one of my favorite movies. Very appropriate I must say. Very present day.

I guess my point is that taking a joke at your expense is a sign of emotional maturity. Many groups are still a long way from that, like Muslims, for instance, who can’t take a joke that simply describes their customary behavior. Or worse, leads some of their more fanatical followers to kill a cartoonist.

Sure, there will always be those who are offended. And let them be. I don’t want to watch my language all the time for fear of offending someone. Do you prefer to spend time with someone who’s uptight and proper or someone who can be candid enough to be a constant source of dirty jokes? Liberals can seize this and become known for their political incorrectness and leave the strait-laced rules and lack of candor to the conservatives. The Right is easily offended nowadays, I guess because they are out of power, and they are masters at creating fake outrages these days, like the tea parties. Sarah Palin famously can’t take a joke about herself. On many occasions she showed she is devoid of any self irony and she gets defensive where there’s no need. Thus bringing even more attention to her insecurities. So liberals, you work is practically being done for you by insecure Right, who, before the Obama era was limited to a shunned urine-soaked Bible-thumping prophet on the street corner, but has now grown to a whole army of these types. All you have to do is sit back, relax and let them make fools of themselves.

As a finishing thought, I never imagined I’ll live to see the Right quoting books on anarchism and calling for civil unrest. What times!

Rush stands by fabricated facts

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:56 pm by blueliberty

Jesus fucking Christ! The depth of mental depravity on the Right should stop to amaze me by now, but they keep trying really hard and succeed.

First it’s ignoring the facts, then cherry picking the convenient ones and now, get this, admitting that facts are fabricated and standing by them nonetheless. Because they know in their gut.

This is pretty funny:

Wall Street Journal Editorial Page

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:23 pm by blueliberty

Wall Street Journal is a solid source of economic news data and good reporting, however, I always found it puzzling how this can coexist with the loonies who write editorials there. I mean, they have Karl Rove as a contributor, for Christ sake, usually lecturing Obama on how to run the country.

Here’s the latest:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704335904574497780846099654.html?mod=WSJ_hps_sections_opinion

Here’s a quote: ”The logic is clear if curious: While it’s OK to blame Mr. Bush for spending too much, it’s not OK to point out that Mr. Obama is already well on track to spend much more.”

Um, yeah, he has to buy the cleaning supplies plus pay the bills for the stuff you bought. I’m at awe at how the biggest fact that escapes those guys is that the crisis didn’t built overnight, but they honestly expect Obama to fix it in 9 months? Perhaps those “experts” have a solution on how to stop a train at full speed? They demand to see results right now, stomping their feet on the ground and end up looking like petulant juveniles.

After I read the comments page I felt like going into a rant.

Most favorite argument that I keep hearing from many Republican friends is that 40% of taxes are paid by 1% of the people on top. Yeah, and? 35% tax on $1bn is more than 35% tax on $200,000. Yes. We have established that we can count. Are you proposing the top 1% being taxed on absolute dollar amount rather than the percent of what they make? Are you demanding that because the $200,000 guy pays $70,000 in taxes, that’s what the $1bn guy should pay? Because when you make statements like the one above, you sound like that’s what you’re implying. Besides, if that really rubs you the wrong way, perhaps the real reason for this disparity is that now the top 1% earns about 300 times of what the average Joe makes, while 20 years ago it was more like 70 times. Perhaps, you’re barking at the wrong tree and it’s not the tax rates you should be attacking but the wage disparity.

You know, this “cutting taxes will solve all problems” crowd is really a piece of work. Their next favorite argument is pulling Ayn Rand and start painting the horrid picture of rich giving up and disappearing. And where exactly are they going to go? In Russia there’s a flat tax of 13%, but these guys are not in a hurry to move there, because, you see, they are socialists over there. (They really are not, but that’s the storyline on the Right and I don’t want to break it for them. B.L.). Or better yet, Somalia – it’s a libertarian paradise. No taxes, no government, guns everywhere, but again, I don’t see a mass exodus there. You see, while they’d love not to pay any taxes, they still need someone to enforce laws, like property laws and it’s the guvmint job. You know, the same govmint that we hate, but would love to run to show that it doesn’t work. Isn’t that what Republicans excel at?

Health Care Debate

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:51 pm by blueliberty

Democrats are pushing for health benefits to start in 2010. Good idea, considering next year is the election year. You can clearly show that you’re trying to alleviate people’s lives and Republicans block you from it.

Also, looks like Harry fucking Reid is finally behind public option. Maybe they are starting to grow a pair.

Democrats! Watch and learn. This is how you deal with thugs.

Remember: Republicans have ‘Replica’ written on theirs, you have ‘Desert Eagle 0.50′ written on yours.

Going Rouge

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:33 pm by blueliberty

This is fucking brilliant!

roguerouge

The guys who came up with that should be given credit. Two books, coming out on the same day, both with Sarah Palin dressed in red, with almost identical names. One is, supposedly, written by her, the other, a parody,  by some guys at The Nation magazine. What are the chances that Sarah Palin’s crowd will buy the wrong book? Considering their disdain for education and, by extension, reading, I’d bet a huge percentage of them won’t be able to tell the difference between Rogue and Rouge.

What a great idea! Simply brilliant!

Obama legalizes pot

Not quite but it’s a step in the right direction, mon. The Justice Department has instructed federal prosecutors to stop arresting medical marijuana users who conform to their states’ laws. I don’t hear states rights advocates cheering, for some reason. I guess these are not the states laws they approve of. For those in New York – you can’t quite go to the park to smoke a joint just yet. NY doesn’t have medical marijuana laws on its’ books. But I praise Obama for this first step.

Peace, brother.
